Cookie policy

Last updated: May 17th, 2026

This cookie policy explains what cookies are, which cookies Viaaza B.V. (“Viaaza”, “we”, “us”) uses on this website, why we use them and how you can manage them. It supplements our Privacy policy, which describes how we handle personal data more generally.

We use cookies in accordance with the EU ePrivacy Directive (as implemented in the Dutch Telecommunicatiewet) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device (computer, tablet or phone) through your browser. Cookies allow a website to recognise your device on subsequent visits, remember preferences and, in some cases, track your behaviour across pages or sites. Where this policy refers to “cookies”, we also mean similar technologies such as local storage, session storage and tracking pixels.

Categories of cookies

Cookies are commonly grouped by purpose. Not all categories are in use on this website today; this section explains the categories so you understand what you are consenting to (or rejecting) when a category becomes active.

Strictly necessary cookies

Required for the website to function and to be secure (for example, to mitigate bots or to remember choices you make during a single visit). These cookies are set without asking for your consent because the ePrivacy Directive exempts cookies that are strictly necessary to deliver a service you have explicitly requested.

Functional cookies

Remember choices you make to give you a more personalised experience (for example, language preference or items in a shopping cart). Where these cookies are not strictly necessary, we ask for your consent before setting them.

Analytics cookies

Help us understand how visitors use our website so we can improve it (for example, which pages are most visited and how long visitors stay). We only set analytics cookies after you have given consent.

Marketing cookies

Used to build a profile of your interests and show you advertising that is relevant to you, on this website or on other websites. We only set marketing cookies after you have given consent, and we will name the relevant third parties in this policy when they are introduced.

Social media cookies

Set by social media platforms (for example, Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, LinkedIn) when you interact with embedded content or follow links to those platforms. These cookies are controlled by the social media platform under its own privacy and cookie policy, which we recommend you also review.

Cookies currently in use on this website

We aim to keep this list accurate. At present the only cookies set on this website are strictly necessary cookies placed by our infrastructure provider, Cloudflare, for security and performance:

  • __cf_bm — provider: Cloudflare — purpose: distinguishes human visitors from bots, helping protect the site from automated abuse (set conditionally when Cloudflare bot management is active for the request) — duration: 30 minutes from your last request — category: strictly necessary.
  • viaaza-cart-storage — provider: Viaaza — type: localStorage (not a cookie) — purpose: stores your shopping-cart contents in your browser so items persist across page loads. Contains tour selections only — no personal data — duration: persistent (until cleared) — category: strictly necessary.
  • Additional strictly-necessary Cloudflare cookies may be set if you access non-public areas of the site (for example, internal staging environments). These cookies are not present on the public website.
  • We do not currently use functional, analytics, marketing or social media cookies. If we introduce any, we will update this list before activation and ask for your consent through the cookie banner described below.

Your consent

Because we currently only set strictly necessary cookies, no consent banner is shown — strictly necessary cookies are exempt from consent under the ePrivacy Directive.

When we add cookies in any other category (functional, analytics, marketing or social media), a cookie banner will appear on your first visit. The banner will follow the principles set out by the European Data Protection Board and the Dutch Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens:

  • Equal prominence for accepting and rejecting. The “Reject all” option will be as visible and as easy to click as the “Accept all” option — no hidden buttons, no design tricks.
  • Granular choice. You will be able to accept or reject each category of cookies (functional, analytics, marketing, social media) independently.
  • No pre-ticked boxes. All non-essential categories will default to off.
  • No cookie wall. You can use the website without accepting non-essential cookies.
  • Withdrawal at any time. Once non-essential cookies are introduced, a persistent “Cookie settings” link will appear in the footer to let you change or withdraw your consent as easily as you gave it.
  • “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information”. If we ever introduce cookies that constitute a “sale” or “share” of personal information under the California CCPA, a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link will appear in the site footer alongside the “Cookie settings” link. We also honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal sent by your browser as a valid opt-out of such sale, sharing and targeted advertising.
  • Re-prompt on change. If we introduce a new category of cookies or change the purpose of existing ones, we will ask for your consent again.
  • Proof of consent. We will record the time of your choice and the version of this policy in effect, as required by Article 7(1) GDPR.

How to manage cookies in your browser

Independently of any cookie banner, you can manage and delete cookies through your browser settings. Each major browser provides instructions: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge and others. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may cause parts of the website to stop working correctly.

Third parties

Some cookies on this website are set by third parties acting as our service providers. Today this is limited to Cloudflare (security and performance). When additional third parties are introduced (for example, an analytics or advertising provider), they will be named in the “Cookies currently in use” list above, along with a link to their own privacy policy.

Changes to this cookie policy

We may update this cookie policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or in applicable law. We will publish the updated version on this page and update the “last modified” date at the top. Where the changes are material — for example, the introduction of a new cookie category — we will ask for your renewed consent through the cookie banner.

What our travelers say

We learned a lot

Maren S.

Jonathan was the perfect guide for our walking tour of Old Town Quito. He was knowledgeable about the history and cultural stories, and guided us through the historic churches, La Ronda cobblestone streets, as well as the governmental buildings. We learned a lot!

Highly recommended

We recently spent three days on various tours with Jonathan and can't say enough about how fantastic a tour guide he was. He listened to our preferences and adjusted our tours to more align with what we wished to see and do. He was very professional, flexible, informative, and enjoyable to be around….and a great driver too !! We would highly recommend booking with Jonatan and his company. You will not be disappointed !!
